Newsletter Vol 22: Summer 2014
Life’s a Stitch!
We made it! Another winter has passed. It's amazing how quickly the cold becomes a dim memory and the blooming trees beckon us outside in short sleeves and sandals. What better way to spend a warm spring day than outside with a light and playful breeze, the warmth of the sun on your skin, and bird songs and the scent of blossoms in the air while working on a small and airy project with a cotton or linen or silk in a cool and soothing summer palette of colors?
Here at the Village Yarn & Fiber Shop we are excited about all of the beautiful yarns and patterns we have ready for your warm weather project indulgences. We now have several new spring and summer yarns in stock and lovely samples on display to admire and inspire, so be sure to stop by and pick up something special to work on as you travel and play outside this spring and summer.
We are also very excited about all of the warm weather crafting activities we have planned this season starting with our fresh new spring and summer classes, our World Wide Knit in Public Day celebration which starts on June 14th and culminates this year with our Alzheimer's Association fundraising event The Longest Day when we will be Knitting in the Park on June 21st, and our exciting new Kids Camp June 30th through July 3rd. Be sure to check out the details on all of these events in this newsletter and check back on our website and Facebook pages for new announcements as the dates approach. We hope you will join us!
Speaking of excitement, a special thank you to Betty Salpekar and all who attended our Solefull Socks Knitting from the Ground Up book signing event on Wednesday, May 14. It was wonderful to see all of the projects in progress (thank you all for sharing) and to hear Betty speak about her new sock knitting methods and patterns. Her tips and insights were most helpful and we look forward to many hours of fun knitting through her book. If you missed it, be sure to stop by and check out her new book which is available for purchase in the shop and see some of the socks in progress on display.
As always, please feel free to come in for help, a nice chat or just to sit and knit for a bit. We are always happy to see you, excited and inspired by the beautiful projects you create, and look forward to just catching up.
