We hope you've enjoyed our Simple Joy in Simple Gifts project!  Today is the last day of our daily featured patterns, but we'd love to see what you're making for gifts this year!  Please share your projects on our Facebook page or in our Ravelry group.

So what happens when you put a square hat on a round head?  Kitty ears!  Today's project is quick and easy, and perfect for a gift - or for today's cold snap!  Mecha Kitty Hat is a free download from Ravelry, and we worked our sample in a single skein of Malabrigo Mecha, color #882 Azul Fresco.  Special thanks to Catherine for knitting the sample for us to share with you.

With a soft spot for kitty ears, we couldn't resist adding in this little bonus project: Beans the Cat.  A free pattern by Linda Dawkins, also available as a Ravelry download, it's meant to be worked in DK weight yarn on size 6 needles.  Instead, we picked up an adorable tiny skein of fingering weight My First Regia (color #1814, Selina) and did the pattern on size 2 needles.  The resulting little kitty is about 2.5" tall and would make a great ornament or gift topper, or just a little friend to sit by your knitting chair!
